My iPhone Update
Well,
I thought I would just update you all on how my search for an iPhone 3G is going. After learning that the apple shops will actually be stocking the iPhone tomorrow morning at 8:03am, I have decided that I am going to visit my local apple shop today to see how many they have in stock, the problem being, my local apple shop is in Bluewater. Apple shops initially said they would not be stocking the new iPhone, but have now decided that they will. They will only be able to take on new clients, existing iPhone owners wont be able to upgrade at an apple shop.
I have also decided to check out the towns of: Gillingham, Canterbury and Maidstone for stock levels of the new iPhone, as I might find a store than has more than 20 and I can get there early to pick one up.
After I am back from my visits, of which I am leaving with a friend at about 11am (1 hours 30 minutes away) I will update everyone with another blog entry on my, hopefully, luck in finding a store with lots of stock.
Until a few hours

I went into both the O2 and Carphone Warehouse stores in Maidstone this afternoon. Both are opening at 8:02am but neither would tell me how much stock they have.

Hereskilled,
The Maidstone Carphone Warehouse is said (By another CPW) to have around 3-4 16GB, and 6-8 8GB’s. The o2 in Maidstone, they would not give us a number.
But the o2 in canterbury, is said to have 15 or so 16GB, and around 30 8GB’s.
Canterbury will be your best bet, but queues could form as early as 7am they think. They will be opening at 8:02 or 8:03am.
I might see you there?

Cheers for the info Richard.
Unfortunately can’t get to Canterbury (don’t drive and have to be at work). I’m going to go to work a little earlier and see what the queues are like more than 10 people at either and if theres less than 10 people I’ll queue otherwise it’s off to work. I’m going on holiday on Monday so I won’t be to bothered if I have to wait.

UPDATE.
Got to CPW at 7:30ish and was 7th in the queue. 16GB versions sold out before I got throught the door (they only had 5). My 8GB version is still sitting in CPW as the o2 credit check system was so snarled up I couldn’t get it authorized. They are holding it for me and should be calling me later on today.

Well. I have finnaly managed to get my hands on an iPhone 3G 16GB. I queued most the night, but it was totaly worth it.
The O2 in Canterbury had more in stock this morning than yesterday, with around 20 16 GBs.
Another advantage of going to O2 was that they could bypass the problems that the carphonewarehouse were having and I was out within 30 minutes with my new phone.
